May 17: Accotink Takes Action

Saturday, May 17, to kick off World Pride, the ACLU will unveil the “Freedom To Be” Monument in Washington, D.C., a powerful living testament to trans resilience and joy.  The installation will be on view 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  ATA will have a group going to the rally and celebration from 12:30-2:00.  Please contact Dotty S. if you want to join the ATA group. This would be a great opportunity for youth and their parents to practice civic engagement. More information.

ATA participated in 2 exciting actions in D.C. this week.  Here is a touching video of what happened at Moral Monday with Repairers of the Breech. None of us with ATA went in the Capitol. We did deliver material to our Representative asking for a meeting between the leaders in Congress and leaders with Repairers of the Breech.  Tuesday was an ACLU press conference regarding community safety. We then delivered material to numerous congressmen asking them to support two bills regarding mental health crisis intervention and not using drivers’ license suspension as a penalty for delinquent fees. Photos and more details are on AUUC’s Facebook page.
