AUUC provides a forum for putting our faith into action in our local Burke area, metropolitan Washington, DC and beyond. Together we engage in service, education, advocacy, and witness to create a more just and compassionate world. We are committed to building a diverse, multicultural Beloved Community by working for racial justice and LGBTQ+ rights and by caring for the earth and interdependent web of life. Over the past few years, AUUC has become increasingly involved in advocacy at the federal, state and local levels.

We welcome more volunteers to help with current programs and ideas and leaders for new initiatives. All are invited to join!

Social Justice and Community Projects

We also support local nonprofit partners every month through our Outreach Collections program. Learn more about our Outreach Collections.

Our social justice initiatives are coordinated and led by the Social Justice Committee. Contact justice@accotinkuu.org to get involved.

Multigenerational Justice Activities

Families, children, youth are involved in many justice activities at AUUC. The Social Justice Committee works in tandem with the Director of Spiritual Development and the Children and Youth Spiritual Development Committee to offer children and teens developmentally appropriate experiences that are grounded in UU values and in line with Accotink’s social justice initiatives.

Statements of Conscience

AUUC occasionally issues a statement of conscience – where we express our faith and values through a statement of AUUC’s position on a specific, timely social justice issue.  Learn more and read AUUC statements of conscience.
