Make Your Voice Heard

The Virginia General Assembly started Jan. 10 (adjourns March 9) and it’s moving fast (~2500 bills).  So far this year, we have hosted two virtual meetings (Senator Carroll-Foy and Delegate Cohen) in support of VICPP policy positions and we also briefed the Fairfax County delegation on Jan. 6 (representing VICPP and ACLU) on legislation supporting paid sick days, implicit (unconscious) bias training, and 2nd Look.

In addition, several Accotinkers attended various Richmond Advocacy Days including Gun Violence Prevention, Equality VA, ACLU (2nd Look,)  VICPP Day for All People, and Democracy Day. These involved rallies and meetings with legislators.

The state-level policy leads for the Advocacy Team are:

  • Kate Heilig & Kate McDevitt              LGBTQ+ Justice
  • Dean Wanderer                                 Immigration Justice & Reform
